Welcome to the Hand Cue Sound Matching (HCSM) app! The HCSM app is a therapy tool that supports The Speech-EZ® Apraxia Program. This app was created for individuals with childhood apraxia of speech, phonological disorders, Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, and other disorders and syndromes that impair speech production. Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist Lynn Carahaly, M.A., CCC-SLP, developed the Hand Cue Sound Matching app.
The Hand Cue Sound Match app is a tool to help children associate a Speech-EZ® Hand Cue to a specific phonogram or grapheme. The purpose is to bridge the hand cue to the phonogram that represents that sound and articulatory posture. The child learns that letters don’t just represent sounds; they also represent where and how the sound is made. Pairing phonograms to the hand cues builds sensory awareness and phonological awareness for literacy development.
